The summer break has reached its end and now, it’s time to go to the famous circuit of Spa-Francorchamps. It’s round thirteen and Mercedes seems like the favourite to win both championships (Drivers’ and Constructors’) but this weekend seems more favourite Ferrari. If we compare last year’s results of FP1 and FP2 and this year’s we can see the same thing. Ferrari dominating FP1 and FP2. In the matutine session, Seb was first and Max second, with the Mercedes in P3 (Hamilton) and P5 (Bottas). While in FP2, Kimi Raikkonen was on the top with both Mercedes at his back and Seb in P5.
The best lap in FP1 last year was set by Seb and it was 1:44.358, while in this year was of 1:44.574 and it was also set by the German. This year’s FP1 fastest lap was 0.216 seconds slower than last year. The fastest lap in FP2 last year was of 1:43.355 by Kimi Raikkonen and this year was of 1:44.123. Once again, last year was faster than this year.
Usually, the track record is broken during Qualifying and it might also happen this year. Another reason last year was faster than this year might be that cars weren’t as fast as they could have been. Let’s see if they can reach even more high speeds this year.
