Lance Stroll signs the fastest lap of the second session of free practice of the British GP with the time of 1:27.274. Behind him Alexander Albon and Valtteri Bottas signed the second and the third time. Leclerc, Hamilton, Sainz, Hulkenberg, Gasly, Ricciardo and Raikkonen complete the top ten.
The two Mercedes however will probably reveal themselves to be the stronger cars even in this track, since both of the Silver Arrows in this session didn't show the true potential of the car.
It seems on the contrary that Ferrari has done a couple of steps forward compared to the last very difficult races. Indeed, Charles Leclerc managed to do the same time on the fast lap that he did last year. In the previous race of this 2020 Ferrari did only worse in comparison of the 2019 season.
Alex Albon then more or less at the half of the session lost the control of his car and crashed on the barriers, causing as well the red flags until his car has been removed from the track.
Another troubled session for Sebastian Vettel, who, after the problems of this morning, has been forced to stay at the pits for an issue inside his cockpit.
Unlucky session as well for Antonio Giovinazzi, who has been protagonist of an accident that forced him to finish his second free practice session in advance.
The most notable event of this Friday of free practice has been certainly the presence of Nico Hulkenberg instead of Sergio Perez at the wheel of Racing Point. The Mexican driver infact has been found positive to the Coronavirus, and because of that he put himself in isolation. Hullkenberg so returns in Formula 1, for this race and until Perez will be able to race again, after the fareweel of last year.
Below the complete classification of the second session of free practice of the British GP:
