AlphaTauri has had an impressive preseason so far, finishing multiple times in the top five with both their drivers and producing performances in line with last years'. Pierre Gasly confirmed today the good state of form of the Italian team, scoring an impressive p5 with the time of 1'29''809.
The French driver himself was extremely surprised by his performance, as he stated:"That’s an amazing start for us, P5, I don’t think I’ve achieved that many times with this team. To start 2021 in that way is just amazing."
Gasly also is in a favourable position ahead of tomorrow's race, since he managed to get through Q2 with a medium compound, leaving him with the advantage of an extra fresh soft set that his main rival for tomorrow, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, who qualified in p4, won't be able to have: "We managed to qualify on mediums in Q2 which will give us an advantage in the race. Honestly everything went as we would have dreamed of and I think we’re ready to give a good fight to Charles tomorrow.”
