After completely dominating all the Free Practice sessions and a disappointing qualifying session, Red Bull goes home with a victory of Max Verstappen and a podium for the Mexican home hero, Sergio Perez. Max Verstappen managed to use the tow of Valtteri Bottas at the start of the race, and this put him in first position.

The Dutchman led the whole Grand Prix without any direct rival; Lewis Hamilton gave up at some point and tried to defend his second place, where he finished in the end.

After this victory, Max Verstappen extended his championship leading and now nineteen points divide himself from Lewis Hamilton in the standings.

Although the situation seems to be in his favour, Verstappen says that he does not want to dream too much because, he knows how fast things can change and turn around.

With four races remaining, the upcoming race is going to take place in Brazil next week, where Verstappen seems to be the favoured; in fact it looks like, his single-seater is more adapt to the circuit than Mercedes.

The Dutch driver does not want to stay too much positive, because he knows that a single bad race, could put back Hamilton in front and ruin his moment: “I don’t want to stay too positive. Now I’m looking forward to Brazil. I also have some great memories here.”

Max Verstappen, soon after the race, explained how the start was crucial for his race. He got the lead of the Grand Prix in the first corner and at that point he found the clean air his Red Bull needed: “Braking as late as possible was what I had to do; it was all about it.”

Verstappen also admitted he was quite happy with how the car felt today, and he said: “Keeping on the track and going from third to first, was basically what made my race. At this point I could just focus on myself. Overall the pace was great and this made me just do my own thing.”
