Having lived through a historic 2021 Formula 1 season, we are currently on winter break. The teams and drivers are working to carry out their car for the 2022 season, which will have many technical changes, a change of era to summarize. It was a season that will be remembered forever. Both championships were defined until the last race of the year, even the drivers' championship was defined until the last lap of the last race, where Max Verstappen was crowned champion for the first time in his entire sporting career in Formula 1.

For its part, Alpine had a pretty tough season. Despite having achieved victory during the Hungarian Grand Prix with Esteban Ocon, the French team had a hard time finding pace on many occasions. With the help of its two drivers, Esteban Ocon and two-time world champion Fernando Alonso, Alpine managed to finish fifth in the constructors' championship with 155 points. Despite being a good position, the French team finished 120 points behind McLaren, who finished in fourth place. Qualifying session

The two Alpine drivers were very close to each other. They both had almost the same performance in this session. Alonso had a better position than Ocon on 11 occasions, while Ocon managed to beat Alonso on the remaining 11. Similarly, both drivers managed to advance to Q3 in a total of 11 Grands Prix. The best position that Fernando Alonso managed to obtain during the qualifying session was P5 only once (Qatar Grand Prix), while Ocon's was P5 but in the Spanish Grand Prix. On average, Fernando Alonso was 0.118 second faster than his teammate. The average qualifying position of the Spaniard was eleventh, being the same position also for the French driver.

Race

Fernando Alonso finished the race ahead of his teammate 11 times, while Ocon did it in 9 races. The best race position obtained by the Spaniard was P3 in the Qatar Grand Prix, this being his only podium of the season. While the best position of the Frenchman was P1 during the Hungarian Grand Prix. Both drivers only had 1 podium. Alonso had to retire from the race twice (Bahrain and United States Grand Prix), while Ocon did it three times (Azerbaijan, Austrian and United States Grand Prix). Finally, Fernando Alonso finished the season in tenth position in the drivers' championship with a total of 81 points, while Esteban Ocon finished in eleventh place with 74 points (7 points less than his teammate).
