Team Alpine Racing can leave Canada on a high with a sense of accoplishment after a double-points finish from both drivers where Esteban Ocon finished in P6 and Fernando Alonso finished in P9 after a post-race penalty.

After a very successful Saturday quaifying, the team's primary goal was to gain points with both cars in order to maintain their championship position.

Alonso had horrible luck with the timing of the two Virtual Safety Car interventions at the start of the race, before having a minor issue that stopped him from moving up the positions.

The team was able to clinch the final places by driving smartly and with a good team spirit, allowing Alonso to profit from the DRS.

The team showed potential all weekend and are looking forward to the next rounds for car upgrades with a new goal in mind of battling further up the grid.

According to Alonso, "I think we deserved better than finishing ninth this weekend."

To add, "But it's always good to manage to put both cars in the top ten. We finally let slip a good opportunity to fight for a potential podium. I felt I had the rhythm to do it."

To continue, "Unfortunately, we were victims of a VSC that fell at the wrong time, just before our first stop. I was on the main straight when it was signaled, and couldn't take the opportunity to pit before the race resumed. We then had to deal with an engine problem from the 20th lap, which we tried to manage. We didn't give up and used DRS to defend ourselves as we were losing a lot of time on the straights."

He concludes, "It's disappointing, especially after our performance yesterday, but we will now take the direction of Silverstone, while trying to solve our reliability problems, with the aim of scoring more points there."
