21-year-old Estonian Jüri Vips has been suspended by Red Bull Racing after he used a racial slur on a Twitch stream with fellow Red Bull junior Liam Lawson.
Videos appeared on social media this afternoon where the n word can be heard on it, believed to have come from the mouth of the Estonian driver.
It's now unclear whether Vips will be taking part in the next Formula 2 round at Silverstone from the 1st to the 3rd of July. Driving for Hitech, he currently sits P7 in the standings. A number of errors on circuit had ruined his title hopes already.
He also drove for Red Bull Racing in FP1 last month at the Circuit de Catalunya as part of F1's push to give rookies an opportunity to test F1 machinery at a Grand Prix weekend.
Posting a statement on twitter, the Milton Keynes-based team said: "Red Bull Racing has suspended junior driver Jüri Vips from all team duties with immediate effect, pending a full investigation into the incident.
"As an organisation we condemn abuse of any kind and have a zero-tolerance policy to racist language or behaviour within our organisation."
Vips released a statement on Instagram, saying that he “wishes to unreservedly apologise for the offensive language used during a live gaming stream earlier today.
“This language is entirely unacceptable and does not portray the values and principles that I hold. I deeply regret my actions and this is not the example I wish to set. I will cooperate with the investigation fully.”
