Team Haas believes there is a good chance to win points with both cars tomorrow, just taking advantage of this to aid the Championship struggle.
Both cars have shown today it can battle well during the challenging circumstances so they're hoping for some more rain.
Ultimately, both Kevin Magnussen and Mick Schumacher advanced to Q2, with each driver taking advantage of the changing circuit to achieve their quickest laps on their second set of the Intermediate tyre compound. Magnussen finished P7 with 1:55.103.
The second qualifying session began with both Haas F1 Team drivers departing the garage on used inters. While the track was still improving, a new set of inters was the signal to go for their hot laps. Magnussen graduated into Q3 thanks to 1:54.006.
Magnussen continued to excel under the lights when he was ultimately freed on a set of dry tyres around the Marina Bay Street Circuit. Magnussen finished the evening with a 1:51.573 lap time while using the Soft tyre compound.
Post-qualifying, Magnussen comments, "It’s been looking positive all weekend but not this positive"
He adds, "P9 was a bit more than we were expecting but it’s great because qualifying in Singapore is very important. I’m super happy that we got a good result here and the team did an amazing job.
"My new race engineer, Mark Slade, did a fantastic job coming back after some time not running a car as a race engineer, and he was flawless."
He concludes, "At the end, in Q3, I told the team that I didn’t know what we should do and to make a decision, and they made absolutely the right ones. It was great just to be able to put all responsibility on them and they pulled it off.”
