F1 | The final sprint event of the season and tyres: what to look out for in Brazil next weekend
As we enter the final stages of the 2022 championship, Pirelli, the official F1 tyre supplier, makes public sets of tyres for both Brazilian and Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, while teams and drivers prepare themselves for the third sprint race of the season.

The Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli has released the list of compounds that teams and drivers will benefit from in order to compete for the two closing weekends of the 2022 season.
The roll call of races is winding down and a great amount of unfinished business has yet to be completed in the midfield and in the back of the grid.
The Circus will finalise its three race stretch in the Americans in Brazil, where the third and last sprint race of the season will go on stage, while the Middle East will be, not only the scene of the ultimate act of the championship, but also a great testing ground for different rookies who will have the opportunity to borrow appointed drivers’ cockpits.
Among the confirmed protagonists, we have Pato O’Ward, IndyCar driver, who will get behind the wheel of Lando Norris’ car during the first free practice and Logan Sargeant who is still chasing the required Super Licence points to secure his Williams seat for the upcoming season.
Formula 1 will head to Brazil with the same set of tyres formalized for the two previous American races held in Austin and Mexico City but - once again - Pirelli did not opt for the leap of compound, only carried out during the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne with C2, C3 and C5 at the disposal of teams and drivers.
The weather forecast, according to several sources, will promise rain and thunderstorms on the Brazilian ground from Friday until Sunday, meaning it may provide us with an edge-of-the-seat scenario.
Awaiting further updates, the confirmed compounds for the Brazilian Grand Prix are:
- White-marked C2 hard tyre
- Yellow-marked C3 medium tyre
- Red-marked C4 soft tyre
A softer choice of tyres is intended for the circuit of Yas Marina, as the selected compounds are deemed to be well suited for the conditions drivers will face on the track located in the UAE:
- White-marked C3 hard tyre
- Yellow-marked C4 medium tyre
- Red-marked C5 soft tyre
A quick overview about Sprint Races:

Each sprint race, which takes place on Saturdays, covers a distance of 100 km to be logged in a 30 minutes session.
The starting order is the outcome of the traditional session of qualifying held on Fridays after just one session of free practice.
