The McLaren boys are no strange to difficult times, but it seems like the Italian Grand Prix will be as tough as Spa, where the MCL33 could only occupy the last positions on the grid.

Stoffel Vandoorne and Fernando Alonso are ready for another tough Grand Prix, as the MCL33 is struggling again on a fast track like Monza, after the distastrous performance in Spa.

Fernando Alonso is saying goodbye to his italian tifosi, but unfortunately, after the first day of practice, he is still ignoring what his McLaren can really do on a circuit like this, because of the rain in the morning and Marcuss Ericsson accident during FP2 which didn't make McLaren programme go as planned.

It was a strange session with Marcuss accident. I know he’s okay, but we lost couple of runs but we were programming, there isn’t the long run pace sim, so we’ll try tomorrow to get some info."

"It’s gonna be a tough weekend for us here, we’ll try to do our best tomorrow." continues the Spaniard; the weekend is going to be even tougher for his team mate Stoffel Vandoorne, who has to deal with a non- competitve car, rumors and contenders for his seat.

"I missed FP1 so I don’t think I lost a huge amount of info thanks to the conditions, but FP2 was a normal session." Said the Belgian after FP2. "I don’t expect any miracles from my side, we knew it was gonna be a difficult weekend and unfortunately our worries were confirmed in this practice session, so we’ll see what we can do tomorrow."

Speculations suggest that not only Lando Norris (who took over his seat this morning during FP1), but Esteban Ocon and Sergio Perez are on the run to occupy his seat starting from the next Grand Prix.

"I don’t think there has ever been any doubt from my side. They said I wasn’t gonna be here, I wasn’t gonna be in Spa. To me, nothing changes. I just put all this on the side and I try to do the best I can. I think we have a lot bigger problems."

Alonso classified himself 14th during FP1 with wet track conditions, but was only able to score the 18th fastest lap time, followed by his team mate Vandoorne in FP2.
