French rookie Fabio Quatararo takes top spot in the Friday morning practice session at Le Mans and is the only rider to get into the 1m 31s in a tight FP1.

Quartararo took top spot on his last flying lap in the session with a 1:31.986 and was the only rider to do so on his Petronas Yamaha machine.

It was then a factory Ducati second and third with Andrea Dovizioso and Danilo Petrucci behind the Frenchman.

Maverick Vinales went well in the session and finished in fourth place on his M1 Yamaha.

Marc Marquez finished in fifth place and produced another spectacular save around the Le Mans circuit.

KTM had a very strong session as Pol Espargaro crossed the line and went into sixth place.

Jack Miller had a good first practice and finished in seventh place and Suzuki rookie Joan Mir made it into eighth place.

The other KTM of Johann Zarco managed to get his bike into ninth place, a great showing for one of the home favourites.

Rounding out the top 10 was Valentino Rossi, despite his chain snapping with about 20 minutes to go.

Quartararo’s teammate Franco Morbidelli finished the session in 12th place.

Jorge Lorenzo had a small crash at the start of the session but got his Repsol Honda in 14th place.

Alex Rins, a podium finisher last time out in Jerez, finished the session down in 17th place.
