Jonas Folger is back in business in home soil, with the German being the fastest guy on track in the first session of free practice riding in 1.24.354, faster than just 7 thousandths of a second of compatriot Marcel Schrotter. Dynavolt rider suffered a little crash in the end of the session at turn 3 but was still able to be second on time sheet before falling down.
Third place for Iker Lecuona, followed by Andrea Locatelli and Fabio Di Giannantonio, with the Italian from Italtrans who has been always really fast at Sachsenring; the three have a gap of three tenths of a second from FP1 leader and are ahead of Jorge Martin, who is the first KTM.
Championship leader Tom Luthi finished in 7th, with the Swiss followed by Lorenzo Baldassarri and an impressive Stefano Manzi, who improves a lot and wants to keep his pace after the great race in Assen. Top 10 is closed by Bo Bendsneyder, while Jorge Navarro (crashed in the end), Luca Marini, Nagashima and Alex Marquez are the last 4 guys in Q2 actually, with the Spaniard being also the last rider able to ride under the 1.25.
