Everyone knew that second session of free practice would have been crucial for the direct access to Q2 due to rain predicted for Saturday, with FP2 session who was like happened in Moto3 more like a qualifying one in which every rider tried to achieve top 10. Last minutes of FP2 were so a rollercoaster where we had many fast laps.
It was Fabio Quartararo the fastest rider on track, with the French who impressed again everyone putting his Yamaha Petronas in front of everyone being just 0.023s faster than Marc Marquez; this two are even the only one able to ride under the 1.56. Behind them we have Jack Miller, first Ducati on time sheet ahead of Andrea Dovizioso, who did exactly the same time.
Maverick Vinales led the session for a while but ended in 5th with just two tenths of a second of gap from the top; the Spaniard is followed by Alex Rins, who got top 10 during his lat attempt. Franco Morbidelli finished 7th with the Italian who seems more comfortable than the previous grand prix and he is ahead of Cal Crutchlow.
Last 2 places for Q2 are taken by Valentino Rossi and Danilo Petrucci; nine time World Champion snatched Q2 access in his last lap in a tough FP2 in which he had a problem on his first bike as long as his engine blew up forcing him to jump on the second bike but was still able to perform a lap that guarantees direct access to Q2.
