On an action-packed Sunday last year’s race winner Maverick Vinales was fastest in the warm up session before the MotoGP qualifying and race.
The Spaniard continued his good run at Phillip Island this weekend as he showed his strength again this morning around the fast slowing circuit.
With the warm up session just before qualifying, it gave the riders and teams a good sense of the conditions for the day.
Just behind Vinales was Aprilia rider Aleix Espargaro in second place and home favourite Jack Miller finished third overall.
The current world champion Marc Marquez finished the session in fourth place with Fabio Quartararo finishing fifth. A strong finish from the Frenchman who suffered a nasty crash on Friday and will have to go run in Q1.
Andrea Dovizioso finished sixth place with Franco Morbidelli just behind in seventh.
Alex Rins was eighth, Pecco Bagnaia was ninth and Danilo Petrucci completed the top ten.
Valentino Rossi finished just outside the top ten in 11th place.
Pol Espargaro finished as the top KTM in 16th place and Johann Zarco, who is standing in for injured Takaaki Nakagami, finished 17th.
Jorge Lorenzo finished the session down in 20th place.
Maverick Vinales will be looking to get his second victory in a row at Phillip Island. But first, can he get pole position?
