He wanted it so hard and after having missed the victory just one week ago at the end of a last lap battle against Marc Marquez, Maverick Vinales finally managed to come back to the first place. The Spaniard from Yamaha was missing victory from Dutch GP in Assen where he managed to get a gap in the second part of the race to win alone and so he did in Sepang too being able to create a consistent gap from the start.

Of course, Maverick was so happy with the win conquered: “I am so happy, it was hard to win today considering how Marc (Marquez) and Dovi (Dovizioso) were fast. I could have won also in Australia without a bad start, but it is fine now. I felt really good here in Malaysia since Friday and I was riding really well”.

Vinales had to face Jack Miller after some meters as long as the Australian jumped into the lead after the first corner: “I knew where I could overtake my rivals, at turn 10 and 11 I was fast and I had the chance, so I went for it and I tried to push as much as I could to create a gap. Yamaha did an amazing job, from Misano I am feeling really well during the first laps and even during Warm Up we made a step up to improve the bike”.

Sepang is not one of the best track for Maverick, but during the race everything worked perfectly: “I struggled a lot always here in Sepang, but we found a setup that is good for every condition and I pushed a lot. I never did good races in Malaysia but this time I was there, I knew I had the chance to win, so I tried and I did it! In the second part of the season we did good things and were consistent with the chance to win races. Every rider is doing well, Fabio (Quartararo), Franco (Morbidelli) and Valentino are fast, but I have to look at myself and keep this pace!”
