It is now or never. Valentino Rossi seems to be ready to announce his move to Petronas Yamaha SRT for 2021 with an option for 2022 to extend his legendary career. The Italian said at the beginning of the season that he wanted to wait some races to make a decision about keeping racing or not, but Coronavirus crisis changed everything.
Meanwhile, Yamaha decided to plan his future by promoting Fabio Quartararo in the Factory Team and keeping Maverick Vinales in the team, while Valentino Rossi had just two choices: retiring or racing for one more year with Petronas replacing Fabio Quartararo.
9-Time World Champion in the last weeks said that he still wants to wait some races to decide his future, but it seems that his destiny is already written as he decided to keep racing for one more year with Petronas Yamaha SRT; the only thing uncertain now is when the announce will be made.
Rumors say that the official statement will come to Jerez next week during the first MotoGP Grand Prix of the season, with Valentino Rossi who signed a one-year contract with an option for 2022 to race until 43 years old. His teammate should be Franco Morbidelli, who made an overall good 2019 with Petronas.
So, Valentino Rossi’s journey is not over yet and he has still some pages to write on his legendary book with another interesting adventure, this time in a Satellite Team. Only time will tell if Rossi made the right decision, but surely the fans will be happy with that.
