Never say never until last corner and meter. Second MotoGP Red Bull Ring race was a fantastic one with a crazy battle until last lap. It is Miguel Oliveira who wins an astonishing Styria Grand Prix holding off Jack Miller and Pol Espargaro after a red flag.
With 16 laps done, Maverick Vinales totally lost his brakes being forced to jump off his bike at over 260km/f hitting and destroying the air fence with his M1 who went in flames. Race Direction was forced to expose a red flag with a quick restart procedure to be done.
In the second start, Jack Miller took the lead, but Pol Espargaro was able to snatch him 1st place until last lap, where the two engaged a stunning battle. The Spaniard made a mistake at Turn 3 going wide, letting to Miller the chance to overtake him for a decisive move.
The Australian took it and tried everything he could, but Espargaro counter attacked at penultimate corner, but it was still not over yet. Miller dived the inside again at last corner for a spectacular move, but ended on going wide forcing Pol to be wide as well.
It was so Miguel Oliveira who took benefit from that, with the Portoguese who was consistent in both races and realized his dream to win a MotoGP race being the most clever rider on track in the final meters!
On the other side, it was such a shame for Joan Mir, as the Spaniard dominated the race before red flag and struggled on taking again the lead in the second one being forced to end in 4th position ahead of Andrea Dovizioso.
Bad luck for his teammate also as Alex Rins ended in 6th followed by Takaaki Nakagami. The Japanese as well will be disappointed with the red flag as before it was fighting for a top 2 position against Jack Miller.
Brad Binder finished in 8th ahead of Valentino Rossi and Iker Lecuona, while Danilo Petrucci ended in 11th followed by Aleix Espargaro. A nightmare Sunday for Fabio Quartararo, who struggled in the first race but also in the second one finishing 13th. 14th Johann Zarco, with Franco Morbidelli last guy who gets points.
