Bagnaia who has won the last two GPs after converting his position into victories at San Marino GP and Aragon successfully. Scored his third successive pole position he scored by 0.328s ahead of championship leader Fabio Quartararo.
It was Pramac Ducatis’s Jorge Martin who set the earlier benchmark of 2:03.278 during his earlier runs of Q2. Marc Marquez who has a dominant run at qualifying at the American GP soon enough tool the charge and topped the time sheets by going almost seven hundredth of second faster with a lap time of 2:02.209.
As soon as the initial runs for the pole ended top three: Mar Marquez, Jorge Martin and Takaaki Nakagami of LCR Honda were only covered by fraction of a second.
It wasn’t until the last thirty seconds of the final runs when Francesco Bagnaia tightens the reins and shattered Mar Marquez’s benchmark by going 4 tenths faster with a lap time of 2:02.781s.
Fabio Quartararo whose lap looked promising during the first couldn’t kept it together through out the lap ended second fastest ahead of Marc Marquez by 0.08s courtesy of his penultimate fastest lap time. This was Fabio’s 14th front row start of the year.
Jorge Martin after leading time sheets for much of the session settled for Forth spot leading the charge of second row, ahead of Japanese Takaaki Nakagami and Frenchman Johann Zarco. Suzuki Duo will start the race from seventh and eighth position of the grid with Alex Rins leading the team.
Mir who only had left one bike because of an engine failure he suffered in FP4, came through Q1, Italian Luca Marini of Avintia who followed Mir through Q1 managed a strong P9 in his two-year-old bike.
Jack Miller who looked strong during FP3 and topped the field only managed p10 ahead of KTMs Brad Binder and Honda’s Pol Espargaro.
Franco Morbidelli who replaced Vinales a week ago in his seconf outing only managed p13 on his factory Yamaha ahead of Andrea Dovizioso who replaced him at SRT.
Alex Marquez and Bastianini will start the race from p15 and p16 respectively.
KTMs rider Miguel Oliveira who suffered and early crash during Q1 thus hampering his chances of getting through Q1 behind team-mate Iker Lecuona.
Aleix Espargaro , Valentino Rossi and Danilo Petrucci completed the field as we have one less rider Maverick Vinales due to sudden death of his cousin at Jerez in World Supersport 300 crash.
