Session started with all the riders opting to go for long runs and find the optimum setup for race. Marquez set the early benchmark for the session which was almost over a second slower than Vinales’ FP2 time. Crutchlow was just 0.3s behind him.
The only riders in earlier part of the session going faster than combined times were Rabat, Nakagami and Xavier Simeon.
In early runs top 11 were just covered by quarter of a second with all teams having at least one rider up there except for KTM.
With 7 minutes remaining in the session riders started to put on the soft compounds and timing screens started to tumble with Vinales being the first to beat the benchmark time set by Marc earlier in the session but Rossi and Crutchlow beat his time a minute later.
In last couple of minutes Marc Marquez decided to show his true pace by doing a 1’33’341 but was only a thousandth faster than Vinales who was further six thousandth faster than LCR Honda rider Cal Cructlow.
Valentino Rossi in other Yamaha only managed to be 4th fastest ahead of Andrea Iannone and Danilo Petrucci.
Winner of last race Jorge Lorenzo just managed to be 7th fastest ahead of impressive Aleix Espargaro.
Dovizioso in other Ducati was only 10th fastest behind Alvaro Bautista who had decent session.
Marquez teammate again seem to have never ending troubles will have to go through Q1 as he only managed to be 15th fastest.
With only 20 minutes remaining in the session rookie Franco Morbidelli dumped the bike at turn 7 in a strangest way. He was later taken to Medical Center for checkups.
