San Marino GP | First Blood to Dovizioso After FP1
Dovizioso topped the opening session of the San Marino GP. In 2nd position, Crutchlow had a successful opening session, followed by Viñales in 3rd. This opening session of the San Marino GP remained dry throughout, however with rain forecast for this afternoon’s FP2 session, this FP1 has been particularly important.
Dovizioso topped the opening session of the San Marino GP weekend, with a time of 1:32:608. Following closely in second, Crutchlow set a time of 1:32:709. In 3rd position was Viñales who set a time of 1:32:739.
Top Honda was Crutchlow who placed 2nd. Pedrosa placed 7th with a time of 1:33:209. Marquez placed 13th with a time of 1:33:406. The top non-factory Honda was Morbidelli with a time of 1:33:304, placing him 10th.
Top Yamaha for this opening session was Viñales, who placed 3rd. Zarco placed 8th, having set a time of 1:33:241. Rossi set a time of 1:33:615 placing him 15th, he will look to improve this time during FP2.
Top Ducati was Dovizioso, who topped the timesheets. Lorenzo placed 4th with a time of 1:32:807. Petrucci found himself in 9th position, having set a time of 1:33:255. Despite a small spill at the end of the session at Turn 1, Miller placed 6th with a time of 1:33:193. Ducati wildcard Pirro placed 16th, with a time of 1:33:696.
Top KTM for FP1, was Smith with a time of 1:34:286, placing him 18th. As Smith has just signed a deal with Aprilia, to be their test rider with wildcard appearances, this may settle him into a successful weekend. P. Espargaro, who is making his comeback after injury, placed 21st with a time of 1:34:614.
Top Aprilia was Redding with a time of 1:33:322, in 11th. A. Espargaro placed 19th with a time of 1:34:544.
Top Suzuki was Iannone in 5th, who is the only rider to have qualified through Q2 in every race so far, with a time of 1:32:923. Rins placed 14th with a time of 1:33:607.
Top Rookie this session was Morbidelli in 10th, as this is his Home GP he will be looking to stamp his authority over this race weekend, and continue on this quest to become Rookie of the Year.
