Marcel Schrotter gets his first pole position under the lights of Qatar, ahead of Xavi Vierge and Lorenzo Baldassarri, but we have to begin with what happened in Q1.

First of all, the Sky VR46 duo, together with Nagashima and Iker Lecuona get the last spots to go through second session of qualifying.

Great strategy from the team which put Luca Marini and Nicolò Bulega in condition to perform at their best and get a relatively easy access into Q2.

Lecuona is 4th thanks to Fabio Di Giannantonio's mistake; the Italian from SpeedUp was able to obtain the last useful position for Q2 but he went over track limits and for that his lap time was cancelled.

Then it was pole position time and Marcel Schrotter did a great lap in his penultimate shot, one tenth of a second faster than Xavi Vierge.

Baldassarri, after a positive FP2, find confidence back and closes the first row, being just 0.053 slower than Vierge.

Luca Marini, after a tough Friday, ended in 4th, despite a crash into the last minutes of the session.

Remy Gardner and Sam Lowes showed a great race pace, but they did not go over 5th and 6th place; anyway, both of them seem to be really fast and consistent for the race.

Tom Luthi, Brad Binder and Alex Marquez are in third row, with a gap of four tenths of a second to the top.

First rookie is Jorge Martin, who also crashed during this turn of qualifying.
