Kaito Toba is the first Japanese rider ever to win a Moto3 race, as long as he snatches victory from Lorenzo Dalla Porta's hands in the final straight! Third and last rider on the podium is Aron Canet, who ended the weekend with a positive result after Saturday's pole position.
The Spaniard had a great start and after the first corner was first, in front of Dalla Porta and Tony Arbolino, who did a great start too.
In the middle of the group, Booth Amos missed brake point and crashed, hitting Jaume Masia and Ayumu Sasaki also.
After the 4th lap, we hve, as usual in Moto3 races, a big group of riders able to compete for the podium, while Dalla Porta, Arenas and Canet swap continuously their positions.
Meanwhile, Romano Fenati, started 11th, begins his comeback to the first positions and in the 9th lap was already 3rd.
The riders able to fight for the victory seem to be Lorenzo Dalla Porta, Aron Canet and Romano Fenati so, while Kaito Toba joins that group too.
First turning point is Fenati doing a massive mistake with 4 laps to go due to a misunderstanding; on his dashboard appears a warning for exceeding track limits, but the Italian thinks it is commited the long lap penalty to him and so he did, losing too much time and deleting himself from the fight for the first win of the season.
Last lap is thrilling: Toba leads the package after the long straight, while Ramirez overtakes Canet, who counterattacks immediatly. Dalla Porta tries the decisive move in the final sector of the circuit and attacks Toba. The Italian is first after the last corner, but the Japanese thanks to slipstream is able to snatches him the victory and wins the first race of the season.
Aron Canet completes podium, with Ramirez 4th and Vietti 5th.
