The monster of Laguna Seca is again Jonathan Rea also in Race 1 with reigning World Champion who did not let any chance to his rivals running away in the second part of the race. Only Chaz Davies tried to stop Kawasaki rider dominance trying to overtake him at turn 1 in the early stages of the race but championship leader counter attacked immediately with the Briton from Ducati not able to replicate again.
Big shot for Jonathan Rea as long as championship contender Alvaro Bautista crashes again making another mistake during the first laps; the Spaniard had a good start in which he jumped in 2nd but was overtaken during the first lap by his teammate. Despite this, former championship leader seemed to be strong and stayed really close to Rea and Davies but ended crashing at turn 5 in a similar way in which he crashed out at Misano and Jerez.
Disaster day so for Bautista but not overall for Ducati, with Chaz Davies who was able to come back to the podium finishing 2nd after trying to stay close to Jonathan Rea, but in the second part of the race he had to give up. Still a good performance for him who needed a great result after a positive Friday in which he showed great pace and he kept it also in the race. Another podium also for Toprak Razgatlioglu, with the Turkish really consistent ending again in top 3.
Tom Sykes did not have any chance to fight for 3rd and had to end in 4th with his BMW in a not so bad Race for the Briton who surely wants more, while Alex Lowes won the fight against Jordi Torres for 5th. 7th position for Michael Van Der Mark, with Loris Baz, Marco Melandri and Michael Ruben Rinaldi closing top 10.
